At N. 200 and Union, a sign points you toward Hollis, an unincorporated burg. A limestone marker reads, “Hollis, 1880-1960, population 0.” Travel 1 1/2 miles north on 200, and a bright blue sign announces you've found Hollis. A red-brick garage sports a deceptive sign above the door. The directions to Clay Center and Concordia are wrong (for this location), but they might offer a clue to the sign’s origins.
