Near the north entrance of the 1909 park, a 17-foot statue sculpted in 1942 by Max Nixon honors Mennonite farmer pioneers (NRHP). South of the statue is the historic Newton Stadium (NRHP), a 1936 WPA project. The stadium and the accompanying Fischer Field host various athletic and community events.
